This fall marks our debut as an independent chorus. Join fellow members of the Weill Cornell community to perform selections from Rachmaninoff’s monumental All-Night Vigil, also known as the Vespers, and Fauré’s luminous Cantique de Jean Racine. The season will also feature beloved and powerful music by Biebl, Lauridsen, Holst, and more across two New York City concerts.

Dr Miloushev's study titled ‘Optimized In-Human [13C] Pyruvate MRI for Assessment of Physiologic Reference data in Different Organs’ (IRB# 21-309) is looking to enroll healthy volunteers. The target accrual is 50 volunteers and is being done to learn more about the use of [13C] pyruvate as an imaging agent for MRI scans. I’m reaching out to see if you can pass the word around and let me know if anyone might be interested in participating as a healthy volunteer.

The study involves [13C] pyruvate as injection(s) followed by an MRI scan for 30-60 mins and will take place in the MRI suite at Main campus.

For context, [13C] pyruvate is not a radioactive agent and is a natural sugar found in the body, but it can also be administered as an imaging agent. When [13C] pyruvate moves throughout the body after injection, chemical reactions in the body’s cells change the sugar into energy (a process called metabolism). As [13C] pyruvate is metabolized, it shows up in the images made with MRI scans. The use of [13C] pyruvate is not FDA approved and is considered investigational for the study.

If applicable, a pregnancy test will be drawn prior to injection/imaging. No other tests will be performed before the main part of the study. The scans and lab are billable to the study and the volunteers will be reimbursed $100 for participation. The study is completely voluntary, and participation will end once the 24hr. follow up phone call has been completed.

Below are the eligibility criteria:

Participant Inclusion Criteria
1. Age between 18-80
2. Negative serum or urine pregnancy test for female volunteers of childbearing age and potential (as defined by MSKCC Standards & Guidelines), from assays obtained <2 weeks prior to study enrollment. Urine pregnancy tests are only valid on the day of the test.

Participant Exclusion Criteria
1. Breast feeding
2. History of metabolic and renal functional disorders
3. Refusal or inability to tolerate the scanning procedure (e.g., due to claustrophobia)
4. Acute major illness (e.g., unstable cardiovascular condition, systemic malignant diseases, etc.)
5. Standard MRI safety screening will be applied; volunteers with MR unsafe devices, or conditional devices where research mode is not allowed, will be excluded.
